Perez: “I am sure that my luck will turn around this weekend”

On the sidelines of the Australian Grand Prix, Sergio Perez wants to believe that his luck will turn. The Mexican saw the podium slip away from him in Jeddah and had to retire in Bahrain. Max Verstappen's teammate arrives in Melbourne particularly motivated.

Despite securing his first career pole position in Jeddah, Sergio Perez encountered bad luck during the first two races of the season. While in third position in Bahrain, a technical issue forced him out of the race on the final lap. In Jeddah, he led from the start, but the safety car caused by Nicholas Latifi made him lose his advantage over his rivals, and he came out of the pits in fourth position.

The races have been very tight so far, the team and I have been unlucky at times, but I am confident that my luck will change this weekend. We have a good car and I am excited to get back on the track and see what we can do!” exclaimed the Mexican.

« It’s great to be back in Melbourne after a two-year wait, it’s always a nice place to race. The fans are always amazing and I’m sure they are excited to have Formula 1 in Australia again. This year the track is new, so it will be interesting to see how this new generation of cars performs. I did some simulator work on the track earlier this week and I think the changes will be good for the show.
» “Checo” admitted.

Only seventh in the championship, Perez will have to seize his chance in Melbourne and prove that he is capable of pulling off impressive moves like during his pole position lap in Jeddah.
