François Sicard should be appointed as the sports director of Formula 1
The Frenchman François Sicard is expected to be appointed as the sporting director of Formula 1. A position created by the FIA following the events in Abu Dhabi to lighten the workload of the race director.

According to information from Motorsport.com, François Sicard, the boss of DAMS in Formula 2, is set to be appointed as the sporting director of Formula 1, a position created since the Formula 1 report on the events in Abu Dhabi. The president of the FIA had decided to reduce the powers granted to the race director and appoint a sporting director for Formula 1.
If the tasks that will be assigned to the French have not yet been defined, they should include overseeing the development of sports regulations, as well as liaising with Formula 1 on topics such as the calendar or circuit licenses. They should also supervise the lower categories such as F2, F3, F4, and Regional Formula.
François Sicard was until now the director of the DAMS Formula 2 team. A graduate of ESCRA, the Higher School of Commerce and Automotive Repair in 1989, he joined the Renault group in 1991 where he spent over 15 years. Starting in marketing, he later joined Renault Sport and played a role in the creation of the World Series by Renault championship. He left the management in 2007 to join Oak Racing in Endurance. He remained there for four years before taking over as the director of DAMS in 2012.
After ten years within the team, François Sicard is expected to leave the organization to explore Formula 1, with three constructor titles and two driver titles under his belt, won by Davide Valsecchi in 2012 and Jolyon Palmer in 2014.
