Sold out Silverstone
Due to its success, the British Grand Prix will take place with closed doors. And it could go beyond the race...

This is one of the must-see events in the calendar. Present since the creation of the sport (and the most contested with 73 editions, editor’s note), the British Grand Prix has always attracted crowds, especially in recent years with Lewis Hamilton winning titles and at the top of the hierarchy.
Last year, the race was sold out and it will be the same for the 2022 edition. We have never reached a sold-out situation so early in the year. We slightly increased the capacity by adding seats in the stands, and we expect the attendance to reach 142,000 people on race day this year, confirms Stuart Pringle, the managing director of the Silverstone circuit, in an interview with The Guardian.
Faced with such enthusiasm from the public for this event, the race, qualifications, and practice sessions could take place with packed stands. « If sales continue at this pace, we will be sold out for all three days. »
Towards a attendance record?
According to the numbers and predictions of Stuart Pringle, around 450,000 people could then attend the Grand Prix weekend, exceeding last year’s record of 356,000.
