Leclerc: “We should not focus on others”
First in the drivers' and constructors' standings, Ferrari can legitimately believe in the title. But to achieve that, we must stay focused and not pay attention to what is happening with the competition," warns Charles Leclerc.

Ferrari arrives in Imola with the wind in its sails. The Scuderia is back on top and starting to think about its first championship since Kimi Räikkönen’s in 2007. Charles Leclerc is on fire and has already secured two wins and a second-place finish in three races. Enough to already have a 34-point lead over his closest competitor, George Russell, but not enough to already believe he is the champion.
The competition seems fierce, with Red Bull whose car is devilishly fast despite its unfortunate tendency to not finish races. The eight-time reigning champions, Mercedes, should not be dismissed either as they have managed to minimize the damage so far despite a slightly less performing car. Leclerc does not want to focus on others and prefers to concentrate on his team in the hopes of winning his first world title.
“I don’t want to focus too much on others,” explains the Monégasque. “With the approach we’ve had over the past two years, we couldn’t really concentrate on anyone else, because we took such a step back from 2019 to 2020 that we just wanted to be back on top.”
By focusing on ourselves, we have found much more value than simply focusing on others, and I believe that this is the approach I want to maintain this year. We shouldn’t pay too much attention to what Mercedes and Red Bull are doing, but rather concentrate on ourselves. Once again, this has been our strength in recent years, to truly identify our weaknesses and work on them, fixing them quickly,” adds Charles Leclerc.
« This is what we must do this year, and I am sure that if we do it, the results will come,” concludes the 24-year-old driver. For now, the F1-75 has not shown any weaknesses, but the Scuderia will have to be wary during a weekend with expected storms for the race in Imola!
“Where rain is expected.”
