For several weeks, or even several months, certain brands within the Volkswagen group have been linked to a possible entry into Formula 1 in the coming years. Audi and Porsche, since they are the ones in question, could join Ferrari, Mercedes, and Renault among the manufacturers present in the elite of motorsport.

On the sidelines of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, some team bosses were questioned about the possibility of such a arrival. After being associated with McLaren, Audi is now reportedly close to Aston Martin: “It’s extremely appealing to have the possibility to partner with a global manufacturer,” said Mike Krack, the Team Principal of the team owned by Lawrence Stroll. “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested. I really would like to talk to them.”

Present by his side, his counterpart at Williams, Jost Capito echoed the same sentiment: “I think the same as Mike. However, we must remain cautious. They have said that they will continue to look into the matter, but not yet that they wish to come. These are two different things.”

Finally, Günther Steiner, the boss of Haas, shared the feeling of his two comrades: who wouldn’t talk to them? However, we are not currently in discussions.
