It was a mixed weekend for Carlos Sainz. First, he made a mistake in qualifying, and as a result, the Spaniard was condemned to start from tenth place for the sprint race.

Determined, the Ferrari driver made an impressive comeback to return to the top positions on the grid for Sunday. This performance motivated him, to the point where he was certain he could win.

But not everything went as planned. On a wet track, the son of the rally world champion had a very poor start, being overtaken by Daniel Ricciardo on the straight leading to Tamburello. He managed to regain the lead under braking, but was later taken out by the Australian.

Stuck in the gravel, he was unable to get his Ferrari out of the gravel, forcing him to abandon. His second consecutive, not the right way to celebrate his new contract with the Scuderia…

In the rankings, he drops two places, in favor of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
