Mercedes is far from being done with the problem of porpoising on its F1 car. At Imola, the rebounds caused by this phenomenon were quite impressive on the track. The sparks that came out from the back of both W13 cars confirmed it throughout the Italian weekend.

Fourth after a controlled race, George Russell managed to overcome this issue that has plagued the start of the season for the Mercedes team. However, the British driver didn’t come out unscathed from this Grand Prix. In fact, he revealed that his body had suffered from the resistance to rebounds.

The dolphin-riding really takes your breath away. I had never experienced it in such an extreme way before. It’s the first weekend where I had to battle back and chest pains due to the intense bouncing. But that’s what we have to do to get the most out of this car.

The current fourth in the championship wishes for his team to quickly find a solution to remedy this: “I really hope that we will find a solution because this is not a sustainable situation for the drivers at the moment.”
