Alonso: “Having only two points, it hurts”
Once again forced to retire this weekend after a mistake from Mick Schumacher, Fernando Alonso seems to be incredibly unlucky. The two-time world champion has only two points after four races, making it a very painful situation for him.

Fernando Alonso is not spared at the beginning of the season. The Spanish driver has had a lot of bad luck on several occasions this season, only finishing two races out of the first four rounds and only entering the points once. A painful result considering the A522 shows very promising signs of performance.
Ninth in Bahrain, Alonso then had to retire in Jeddah while he was in seventh place. In Melbourne, it was during qualifying that his engine failed while he was doing an incredible lap that would have probably placed him very high on the grid. Starting tenth, he missed his strategy and finished far off the mark in 17th place.
At Imola, the double world champion had a great opportunity to get back in the points after three consecutive failures. After qualifying in an excellent fifth position on Friday, he naturally lost a few places during the sprint to start ninth on Sunday. Making a good start, he was hit by Mick Schumacher’s left rear wheel and had to retire with a completely torn off right sidepod.
After this new setback, Fernando Alonso did not hide his disappointment even if he does not lose hope.
I prefer to finish the season better rather than starting it well and finishing it badly. So, it’s better to do it the other way around and end on a better performance.
But at the same time, having to watch the races on TV, and I see too many of them at the moment on the top four, and only having two points in the championship when I should maybe have 25 or 30, it hurts. », regrets the Spanish driver.
With two points, Alonso is only fifteenth in the standings while his teammate Esteban Ocon already has 20 points. The Asturian Bull will hope to see his luck turn around at the Miami Grand Prix next weekend to finally show the full potential of his A522.
