The world of Formula 1 is gaining more and more popularity in the world of the big screen. After the successes of Ron Howard’s Rush, the biopics of Senna and Schumacher, as well as the Netflix series Drive to Survive, it is Enzo Ferrari who should have his feature film.

In this upcoming film, Il Commendatore is expected to be played by Adam Driver and his wife is set to be portrayed by Penelope Cruz, according to Deadline’s information.

A film shoot in Italy

For now, no scenes have been filmed, but shooting is expected to start by May, for a projected release in 2023 or 2024.

The plot takes place in the summer of 1957, a period when the Italian brand is at its worst, where the founder’s marriage is tumultuous, as well as the death of his son. It is then that Enzo decides to put everything on one of the most famous races of the 50s: the Mille Miglia.

According to Collider, the biopic would be inspired by the biography “The Man and the Machine” by Brock Yates, released in 2019.
