Marko: “Lando Norris, the only talented driver in the league”
The director of the Red Bull young driver program believes that Lando Norris will be capable of fighting for the world championship title one day.
Here is a compliment that should please Lando Norris. In an interview with Auto Motor und Sport, Helmut Marko praised the young British driver, who is with McLaren. The only driver I still see as talented in this league is Lando Norris, but he doesn’t have the best equipment at the moment. Norris deserves a much better car. We know the value of Daniel Ricciardo and what he is able to do against Norris demonstrates all the qualities of the latter. I understand why McLaren signed him for such a long time.
These comments from the Austrian come a few days after he strongly criticized Lewis Hamilton, stating that he should have stopped at the end of last season.
However, Marko states that McLaren will not be a competitor for us this year, even if they make significant progress.
A Verstappen-Leclerc battle for the title
The former Formula 1 driver, who retired in 1972, also commented on the ongoing rivalry between his driver Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. He believes that no other driver will be able to join them in the fight for the title.
In the standings, Charles Leclerc dominates the discussions with 86 points, far ahead of his pursuer and championship rival, Max Verstappen, who has scored 59 points. On the other hand, Lando Norris, with his podium at Imola, made a leap in the rankings with 35 points (6th).
