We suspected that this first Grand Prix in Miami would give teams and drivers the opportunity to have some fun activities before the hostilities begin this Friday. Just like Lewis Hamilton, who engaged in a golf duel against Tom Brady. Red Bull, on the other hand, decided to have two of its drivers, Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda, try out a lesser-known activity to the general public: the Swamp Buggy.

True tradition originating from Florida, these 900-horsepower V8 buggies are designed to drive in water. To make the experience even more entertaining, two other Red Bull athletes have been invited to the party to create a mini-championship: motocross rider Jett Lawrence and skateboarder Zion Wright.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect from Swamp Buggy races,” Verstappen says. “I was shocked when I arrived because I had never seen anything like it, it was really cool. It’s quite incredible to drive and it’s so different from what we’re used to.”

Yuki Tsunoda also seems to have enjoyed the experience. « It was the first time in my life, and I really loved it, a good day. Driving the buggy was like a jet ski; you can’t turn the car when you’re flooring it. But it was easier than I expected and I was able to adapt quite quickly and it was a lot of fun! »
