Valtteri Bottas broke his turbo during his crash in FP1
The turbo installed at the beginning of the weekend on Valtteri Bottas' Alfa Romeo had to be replaced after his accident.

With his accident during the first free practice session, Valtteri Bottas used up one of his lifelines. While a new turbo had been installed on his car, his crash broke it along with the exhaust system.
The Finn thus installed his third turbo on his Alfa Romeo and consequently reached the allowed limit for a season. If there were to be a new change, which seems more than likely due to the length of the season, he would receive a penalty.
« It’s a really costly mistake on my part, and it’s annoying. But all we can do is try to make the best out of Saturday’s attempts. The damages are unfortunate: the rear impact damaged the exhaust as well as the engine turbo. That’s why it was impossible to fix the car for FP2. Luckily, I had the old floor specification, so everything is fine for tomorrow, and I don’t expect any penalties, he stated.
Beyond the broken parts, it’s the lack of track time that could penalize him for the rest of the weekend, as he couldn’t take part in the second practice session last night.
(English) The track is relatively green. And once you slightly deviate from the racing line, you are penalized even more, but we’ll see tomorrow, I think the track will continue to improve significantly. I need to catch up on lost time.
