Daniel Ricciardo reprimanded
The Australian did not follow the race director's instructions regarding the practice starts.
This is the second reprimand of the weekend that has just been issued. After Esteban Ocon, his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo has received one, after the final practice session.
The race direction reproached the Australian for not respecting point 11.2 of the race director’s notes. The latter states that « all drivers conducting a practice start must do so by positioning themselves as far forward as possible on the starting grid and, if necessary, must wait for others to start before moving forward on the grid. Under no circumstances should a driver practice a start if another car is still stationary in front of them on the same side of the grid. »
Except that the McLaren driver performed his test maneuver while other drivers were positioned in the same row and in front of him. Therefore, the FIA only gave him a reprimand, his first of the year.
During this third session, Daniel Ricciardo finished in 13th position, 1.4 seconds behind Sergio Perez, who set the fastest time of the session.
