Lap 53, Mick Schumacher attempts to overtake Sebastian Vettel at the first corner. The two German drivers collide. An incident that we feared between these two men ever since the arrival of Michael Schumacher’s son last season, as we know how close they are off the track.

After the race, the four-time world champion came back to the incident, without blaming the Haas driver. « I didn’t expect it, let’s say that. Obviously, it’s a shame that there was contact and that we are out of the race, out of the points. It’s a shame. I am disappointed for Mick and myself, obviously, that we both lost a good opportunity to score points today. […] When I saw him, it was obviously too late, so there was contact. »

Same feeling for Mick Schumacher, who doesn’t seek to blame his mentor. Obviously, it’s hard to say and judge from inside the car. So, I have to wait and see how it looks from the outside. But I’m sure it will also be a good thing for me to see what Seb thinks about it. We will have to move on.

When he is told that Vettel does not blame him, here is the response from the 2020 Formula 2 champion. « No, it’s the same on my side. It’s good to be able to learn from him, he is so valuable to me as a friend, so yes, we will see. Obviously, we are all competitors. »
