Hamilton irritated by Mercedes’ strategy in Miami

After finishing sixth in Miami behind his teammate George Russell, Lewis Hamilton expressed a slight frustration with his team's strategy.

While he had a much better race than at Imola two weeks ago, Lewis Hamilton thought he would finally finish ahead of his teammate George Russell, who was in great form at the start of the season for his debut at Mercedes. However, that was without counting on the collision between Gasly and Norris, causing a safety car intervention that completely changed the game a few laps before the finish.

Russell therefore benefited from a “free stop” and was able to come out just behind Hamilton in 7th position, with much fresher tires. While the young Briton considered himself lucky after the race, the words of the seven-time world champion are completely different.

In this scenario, I have no idea where everyone is, so when the team says it’s your choice, I don’t have the information to make the decision. It’s your job, make the decision for me. You have all the details, not me. That’s why you rely on the guys, but today they gave it to me and I don’t understand, but it doesn’t matter…

Hamilton still acknowledges that the result is not bad. « Just a little unfortunate with the safety car but at least we scored points today, we finished, the reliability is good. I’m looking forward, at some point, to taking a step forward, which we haven’t done yet. »
