Trailing by 19 points behind Charles Leclerc after the Miami Grand Prix, Max Verstappen has, as he has for several seasons now, a car perfectly tuned to his style. Even though the debate persists over which is truly the fastest on the track, Ferrari or Red Bull, in Miami, the RB18 had the advantage over the F1-75, particularly with its remarkable top speed on the straights.

Verstappen can once again rely on an extremely fast car designed for him this season in his quest for a second world championship title. However, Red Bull’s major issue in 2022 lies in terms of reliability. Miami was no exception, with the reigning world champion experiencing a disrupted Friday, and Pérez also having his race ruined by a power issue with his engine.

Verstappen commented on the numerous reliability issues faced by his team. « We still have a few problems to address. We are fast, but my Friday was terrible… which isn’t good if you want to have a good weekend. And Checo also had some issues during the race, so we need to be on top of that. But it’s clear that there is a lot of potential, we just need to make sure it’s reliable. »

The Dutchman confesses, however, to prefer a fast but unreliable car rather than the opposite. « We must ensure that these things no longer happen… Of course, we are working on it fully. […] But as you can see, the car is fast. I am very happy about that, I mean, if it was slow and reliable, it probably wouldn’t be a good thing! »
