Rain expected for the race in Monaco
The Monaco Grand Prix scheduled for next weekend could take place on a wet track.

This weekend, Formula 1 sets its wheels in Monaco for one of the most iconic Grand Prix races on the calendar. Currently second in the championship, local hero Charles Leclerc intends to shine on home turf behind the wheel of a car that allows him to compete for victory fairly. In addition to battling his rivals, including Max Verstappen on the track, the Ferrari driver might have to deal with unpredictable weather.
According to The Weather Channel, there are significant chances of rain for Sunday in Monaco. The probability of showers during the race is 70%, with maximum temperatures around 22 degrees. For Friday and Saturday, maximum temperatures will be around 26 degrees. The track is expected to remain dry during the practice sessions, while storms could break out during the qualifications.
Wet track conditions have already led to mythical races in the history of F1 in Monaco. In 1972, for example, it was under these conditions that Jean-Pierre Beltoise won the only victory of his career on BRM. It was also in the rain that a certain Ayrton Senna revealed himself to the world during the 1984 race. Closer to us, the editions of 1996, the year of Olivier Panis’ only victory in F1, and 1997, where twelve cars had retired out of twenty-two starters, have remained legendary.
