McLaren pays tribute to Senna on its car
Starting from the Monaco Grand Prix, McLaren will display the name "Senna" on their car, a new way for the Woking team to pay tribute to the Brazilian legend.

Monaco is the Grand Prix that all drivers dream of winning. It is also here that the greatest have shone. Among the great names of Formula 1 who have triumphed in the principality, Ayrton Senna’s name is one of the first that comes to mind. Six-time winner on these streets, Monaco was the perfect moment for McLaren to unveil a new tribute to their former driver.
Before the start of the 2022 season, Williams displayed a logo in tribute to Senna since his tragic death at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. But this tradition has come to an end, as Jost Capito justified this decision by reserving a better place for homage to the Brazilian in the team’s museum rather than on the car.
The Woking team unveiled a new tribute to the Brazilian legend this Friday morning. Starting this weekend, the orange car will bear the name “Senna” at the bottom of the MCL36’s halo. This initiative is supported by the Ayrton Senna Foundation, created by Vivianne Senna, Ayrton’s sister.
Pilot in the team from 1988 to 1993, with which he won his three world championship titles, Ayrton Senna is still honored within the team. « I can’t think of a better race than the Monaco Grand Prix to start this celebration of Ayrton’s life. Having won this Grand Prix six times, more than any other driver, Ayrton proved that his skill and ability behind the wheel of an F1 car were rarely matched, » said Zak Brown.
We are honoured to carry the @AyrtonSenna name from the #MonacoGP onwards.
His bravery, commitment and ingenuity continue to set the standard for our team to this day. 🧡 pic.twitter.com/mD9aHtva9n
