Sergio Perez at Red Bull until 2024

Good news keeps piling up for Sergio Perez. Just 3 days after his impressive victory in Monaco, he has been re-signed by Red Bull until 2024. While in 2020 his career could have come to an end due to a lack of available seats, Perez is now confirmed with one of the top teams on the grid for two additional seasons.

A well-deserved contract renewal for the number 11 driver who played a crucial role in Max Verstappen’s victory in 2021, often sacrificing his own races to benefit his teammate. The best example is Abu Dhabi, where Sergio Perez demonstrated exemplary defensive skills to slow down Lewis Hamilton and allow the Dutch driver to gain time against his rival.

Contrary to his predecessors (Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon), Sergio Perez is the only second Red Bull driver, since the departure of Daniel Ricciardo, to consistently race among the leaders. This is a crucial aspect for the development of the Austrian team’s strategies.

Red Bull Racing’s team principal, Christian Horner, can’t speak highly enough of Sergio Perez. Since joining Red Bull Racing, Checo has done a fantastic job. He has proven, race after race, to be both an essential part of the team and one of the fastest drivers on the grid. This year, he has further improved by getting closer to the pace of the World Champion, Max Verstappen, as evidenced by his pole position in Jeddah and his victory in Monaco last weekend. With his pace, race intelligence, and experience, it was obvious to us that his contract should be extended. We are thrilled to have Checo with us until 2024. Alongside Max, we believe we have a driver pairing that will enable us to win many trophies in F1.

In 2021, during his first season with Red Bull, Sergio Perez finished the year with 190 points. This made it his best campaign yet in Formula 1. This year, the Mexican driver has already scored 110 points and is still mathematically in the fight for the title.
