While Red Bull seems to have finally resolved its reliability issues that had spoiled its season start, Ferrari could face the same troubles. Charles Leclerc saw a victory within his reach slip away last week in Barcelona due to a faulty MGU-H and turbo.

But the Monegasque is not the only one experiencing mechanical troubles with their power unit. Haas and Alfa Romeo, Ferrari’s engine customers, have also encountered numerous issues this weekend in Monaco. On Friday, during practice sessions, Mick Schumacher and Valtteri Bottas had problems with the MGU-K, which compromised their sessions.

Valtteri Bottas has already reached the limit of three available MGU-Ks per season in Monaco. The Finn is therefore expected to receive a penalty during his next upcoming part change. However, the biggest loser of the weekend is Kevin Magnussen. The Danish driver had to retire while fighting for points due to a problem… with the MGU-K.

« I really thought that our pace in the race was good, I was able to keep Gasly behind until our issue, and I was closing in on Bottas. It would have been really exciting around the pit stops to see what could have happened. It’s unfortunate not to have any points today, even though I think we had the car to do it, we knew we could fight. » regretted Magnussen after the race.

Ferrari will have to quickly investigate the origin of the problem to prevent another retirement of one of the two drivers of the prancing horse team.
