Back in Formula 1 this year, after a year as a reserve driver for Red Bull, Alex Albon is proving at the beginning of this season that his place is definitely in the pinnacle category of motorsport. Behind the wheel of an underperforming Williams, the Thai driver still manages to make something out of this FW44 with a few impressive highlights.

By scoring points in two races, in Australia and Miami, Alex Albon showcases all his talent. He is also greatly helped by the comparison with his teammate Nicholas Latifi, who is completely stationary with this car and making mistakes, especially at the start of the season.

These performances of the 26-year-old Thai athlete attract media sympathy as well as that of his fellow competitors, such as his friend George Russell, who first and foremost applauds his bounce-back after the Red Bull failure. « Alex has done an exceptional job. I think there’s obviously no secret that he had a tough time at Red Bull, but I think all of us, including probably Max, knew just how talented Alex was. »

Russell reminisces about his young years with Albon as a rival on the track. And, you know, we have, as I said, all raced against each other since 2011. Alex was a few years older than us. He has always been one of the best, so it’s not a surprise for me, and I think he is happy to see that he is back in Formula 1, and that he has solidified his place.

Since his ninth place, Albon has followed it up with an 18th place in Spain and a retirement in Monaco. These results are less solid for the Thai driver, but he remains a driver capable of scoring points whenever the opportunity arises again.
