Bottas is very happy about his transfer to Alfa Romeo
Worn out by his years at Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas seems happier than ever since his arrival at Alfa Romeo, in addition to being very performant.
Since his departure from Mercedes at the end of last season, the Formula 1 world has rediscovered Valtteri Bottas at the top of his game. Fully fulfilled in his new team Alfa Romeo, the Finnish driver seems happier and more successful than ever.
The timing of his arrival within Frédéric Vasseur’s team also seems optimal, as the C42 is significantly better than its predecessors. Fighting for fifth place in the constructors’ championship after seven races, the 2022 model of the Italian-Swiss team allows Bottas to display his best level, which he manages to do with ease. Currently eighth in the drivers’ championship with 40 points, only Lando Norris seems capable of challenging him for the title of “best of the rest” at the moment.
Valtteri Bottas himself acknowledges that the start of the 2022 season is nearly perfect for him and his new team. It has been a good, good start to the season. I have been in a happy place, so that I can really try to be the best version of myself and drive the way I want to drive. The atmosphere within the team is so motivating, like the people, how much they are now trying, it’s really inspiring for me too. Maybe it pushes you to do even more. But yes, it has been a good start to the season.
The Finn believes that there are still a few points for improvement. Obviously, there are still things to improve. We are still working on the starts, which have not been great. We are still working on stability at high speeds with the car, so that’s not the limit for us. There is more to come, but on a personal level, it has been good. But it can always be better.
If the C42 remains at such a level of performance throughout the season thanks to development, Valtteri Bottas will clearly be a serious candidate for seventh place in the drivers’ standings.
