McLaren announces the goal to be reached by the end of the season
After a disastrous first Grand Prix for the Woking team, McLaren announces a much more ambitious goal to achieve by the end of the season: fourth place in the constructors' standings.

McLaren disappointed everyone at the season opener in Bahrain. While they were expected to potentially be at the top of the time sheet, the Woking team had a catastrophic first round, only managing to secure 14th and 15th place in Sakhir.
But since this complicated episode, everything has worked out for McLaren. While the orange car is still not capable of competing head-to-head with Ferrari or Red Bull for victories, the MCL36 has already moved up to the upper midfield. Fourth after seven races, with 59 points, 18 units ahead of Alfa Romeo in fifth place, when we look back to early March, we could almost believe that it’s a miracle.
After the Monaco Grand Prix, team director Andreas Seidl announced the objective to be achieved by his team this season. Our objective is clear. We want to fight at least for P4 in the constructors’ championship. I think we have everything in the team, together with Lando and Daniel, to do it.
Seidl insists on the development of the MCL36 to achieve this goal. We know that the competition will not stand still, so we must ensure that we continue to develop this car as well, which we have already done. Obviously, it’s encouraging, you can see the pace we had in Barcelona and the difficult conditions for us, but especially in Monaco and I hope it will continue like this on different tracks with other characteristics.
Optimism reigns on Woking’s side. To ensure holding onto this fourth place, it would nonetheless be necessary for Daniel Ricciardo to find solutions to get closer to Lando Norris, as he currently has nearly five times fewer points than his British teammate.
