Gasly deserves a spot in a top team according to Massa
Former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa believes that Pierre Gasly deserves to drive for a top team. The Brazilian is also impressed by the Frenchman's performance in Monaco.
Since the announcement of Sergio Pérez’s contract extension at Red Bull until at least 2024, there is no longer any doubt that Pierre Gasly’s place is not within the Red Bull team. He had been given a first chance in 2019, which ended in failure and a demotion to the “B team” after only half a season.
On his side, former Brazilian driver Felipe Massa believes that the Rouen native deserves a seat in a top team. « Yes, I think so,” he replies when asked if seeing the Frenchman in a top team is a possibility.
Massa notably expressed his admiration for Gasly’s performance in Monaco last weekend, and more generally for his performances in recent times. He was fast throughout the entire weekend. In qualifying, things didn’t go very well due to the strategy and the red flag; it didn’t work out perfectly. But, I mean, the performances he’s been showing for a long time now, he’s incredible.

In the meantime, Pierre Gasly’s future remains one of the big questions surrounding transfers for next year. If the Frenchman decides to leave AlphaTauri, a possible move to McLaren, in the case that Daniel Ricciardo is not retained by the Woking team, would seem to be the most interesting option. Otherwise, there are very few other opportunities remaining.
