Mercedes is committed to the LGBTQ+ community. The German team is redesigning its logo, its famous three-pointed star, to turn it into the colors of the rainbow, a symbol of the LGBTQ+ cause. Mercedes is partnering with Pride Month, which is an opportunity for all individuals who do not identify as heterosexual to proudly celebrate their orientation.

« To celebrate Pride Month, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team will publicly show their support for the LGBTQ+ community by racing with the Mercedes-Benz pride star on the car for the next three races. The rainbow pride star will be featured on the nose of both cars during the Azerbaijan, Canada, and Great Britain Grand Prix, aiming to raise awareness for Pride Month and its significance, » the team explains in a statement.

« Lewis and George will also wear the Pride star on their helmet during these races, throughout the month of June, thereby adding their voice to the global celebration of the LGBTQ+ community,” the statement continues. Lewis Hamilton has always fought for racial and sexual minorities, and there is no doubt that he will appreciate his team’s involvement in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Under the banner of the star of Mercedes-Benz, we share a commitment to a culture of diversity and inclusivity and we oppose all forms of discrimination. Everyone is different. But we are all equal. We stand for openness, trust, and fairness. And we believe that everyone deserves to be respected and appreciated for who they are. » concludes Mercedes.

In addition to displaying their support on the racecar, the German team is also preparing a special month for its employees. They will organize company events where the focus will be on their LGBTQ+ employees. Numerous posts are also expected to animate social media, as all of the Mercedes group pages have already used the rainbow star as their new profile picture.
