After taking the lead at the start against Charles Leclerc, Sergio Perez ultimately lost the lead to Max Verstappen before having a calm race until the finish line to finish second.

On the microphone, he declared: “Unfortunately, I just missed the virtual safety car window, we had poor communication with the team, and we were unlucky. Initially, I had too much degradation on my tires, it was too high for me, and we need to understand why. Max was stronger than us on the second stint, but it’s still a good result.”

Regarding the team order given by Red Bull not to fight between teammates: At this point in the race, Max was faster and anything could happen, the important thing was to secure the one-two finish.

Sergio Perez nevertheless recovers the second place in the World Championship and surpasses Charles Leclerc following his retirement.
