Mercedes warns Ferrari
After a nightmare-like Azerbaijan Grand Prix for Ferrari, Mercedes has closed the gap in the constructors' standings with the Scuderia. George Russell warns Ferrari, stating that the German team might be closer than expected.

Russell finished the Baku Grand Prix in 3rd place, securing another podium for Mercedes this season with a very challenging car to control. While Ferrari experienced its first double retirement since Monza 2020, the Scuderia’s second place is increasingly threatened by the Brackley team.
When asked about the competitiveness of the car, George Russell responds that he is confident for the future with the current package of the car: “Yes, there is no doubt. I don’t think we are millions of kilometers away from our goal. Each session is different and with each run, we try different things on the car and we need to collect all the information.”
Toto Wolff, director of Mercedes AMG Petronas, also mentioned the possibility of the German team catching up to Ferrari, stating that if the Italians “drop the ball”, they will be there to pick it up.
Now close to Ferrari in the constructors’ standings, Mercedes aims to maximize the number of points at each Grand Prix, hoping that Ferrari’s reliability gives them a chance to catch up to them once again.
