Oscar Piastri is conducting tests at Silverstone with last year’s Alpine
Oscar Piastri, Alpine's reserve driver, is testing today at the Silverstone circuit. He's driving the A521, which was driven by Ocon and Alonso last year.

Oscar Piastri continues his apprenticeship with Alpine. The reigning Formula 2 champion is undergoing a test day today at Silverstone with the 2021 Alpine A521. It’s another day behind the wheel of last year’s car for the young Australian, following a test weekend in Losail, Qatar, in May.

The regulations have been modified this year as teams must now have another driver than the usual starters to drive during at least two free practice sessions this season. If Piastri hasn’t had his chance yet, unlike Nyck de Vries or Jüri Vips for example, he will have the opportunity to discover the 2022 F1 cars during the season.
The young Australian could also find a seat for next year as Williams is reportedly on the verge of offering him the succession to Nicholas Latifi. The announcement could take place during the British Grand Prix, at Silverstone precisely.
