Red Bull expects a comeback from Ferrari in North American lands
Ferrari experienced its first double retirement since Monza 2020, allowing Red Bull to pull away in the constructor standings. But according to Helmut Marko, his team and Scuderia are now on the same level, and he still fears Mercedes.

The Red Bull season has seen its drivers suffer from mechanical failures on several occasions, allowing Ferrari to take the lead in the championship, but the trend has completely reversed in recent weeks. It is now Ferrari’s turn to account for its retirements, with 5 DNFs in 6 races, including two for Leclerc due to reliability issues.
Helmut Marko declares that both teams are now on an equal footing: We suffered two retirements due to technical issues. « Leclerc also had them, so it’s like an equality now »
On his part, Christian Horner views Ferrari’s issues as temporary and has no intention of slowing down their pace in this championship. I believe they have a very fast car, especially on Saturdays. On Sundays, we were on par with them in almost every race we’ve competed in this year. And I think that was still the case [in Baku] from what we could see in the first few laps.
“They will solve their problems. I have no doubt about it. But it’s inevitable, I suppose, that there will be penalties later in the year towards the end of the championship. Of course, that’s a long way off and there’s room to let the championship unfold. We have seen big point swings in the last four or five races, which mainly shows the speed at which everything can change.”
Another more distant rival in the championship, Mercedes still seems to worry Helmut Marko, who keeps finishing races in the points. He declared, “They might not be the fastest, but they are the most consistent,” echoing George Russell’s series of Top 5 finishes, who trails Max Verstappen by 47 points, always lurking for the championship.
The Canadian Grand Prix is approaching fast, and this track, which has been typically dominated by Mercedes in recent years, will once again witness two rivals fighting for the victory.
