Three DRS zones in Montreal
Formula 1 is heading to the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit for the 9th round of the World Championship. The track, absent for the past two years due to COVID, will make way for the race on Sunday with 3 DRS zones.

Very fast and intense circuit, the Gilles Villeneuve track has 14 corners for a lap of over 4km. Its fast corners are mostly separated by slightly curved straight lines. The corner combinations are made up of wide chicanes, and the hairpin of corner 10 represents one of the biggest challenges of the circuit, where taking a good exit is crucial to gain maximum time on the long straight line until corner 13.
In accordance with the high speeds of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, 3 DRS activation zones will be available for drivers to maximize overtaking opportunities on this very fast circuit with limited braking zones.
The first DRS detection zone is located between turn 5 and 6, the activation will occur at the exit of chicane 6 and 7, in the long and fast curve towards the sequence of turns 8 and 9.
Just out of these two turns, the second detection zone will be there, although the activation of the DRS will only be done after the hairpin turn 10 and the slight left at turn 11. It should be noted that this detection line applies to the following two DRS zones, including the start/finish straight, which is the last DRS zone of the circuit.
