Sebastian Vettel appeared, as usual, wearing an activist t-shirt in Canada. The German driver is sporting a message that says “Stop mining tar sands. Canada’s Climate crime”, which translates to “Stop mining tar sands. Canada’s environmental crime”.

Indeed, the province of Alberta, in the western part of the country, is known for being a land of oil extraction. By utilizing the oil sands of this region, oil companies have drilled mines that span an area larger than the city of New York. The organization Friends of the Earth further estimates that oil sands extraction emits three to five times more greenhouse gases than the extraction of conventional hydrocarbons.

It’s also worth noting that Vettel sports a rainbow on his bike, a symbol of LGBTQIA+ cause, during Pride Month.
