Verstappen wins his 26th victory in Canada: “Ferrari was faster”
This Sunday, Max Verstappen had a (almost) peaceful life and had to resist Carlos Sainz in the final laps at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Untouchable during the Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen strengthens his lead in the World Championship. He is ahead of Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton, who returns to the podium after leaving it earlier in the season. He now has a 49-point advantage over Charles Leclerc.
During his post-race interview, he stated to Jenson Button’s microphone: “The safety car didn’t help, they were fast (referring to Ferrari and Mercedes). Even when I had fresh tires, I gave it my all. Carlos was also very fast, chasing after me, then recharging his batteries, and coming back again. It was easier for him to charge thanks to the DRS, but our high top speed helped us tremendously. Ferrari’s strategy was solid during the race: they had fresh tires with Carlos, but we ultimately came out on top.”
Max Verstappen therefore wins his 26th victory in Formula 1, and strengthens his lead ahead of Perez and Leclerc.
