Lewis Hamilton had not been on the podium for 7 races, but the Canadian Grand Prix was his opportunity to climb back up the Formula 1 standings. After an excellent qualifying session by the Briton in rainy conditions, he managed to hold his position until the end of the race, helped notably by Alpine’s failed strategy. In this way, he returns to the podium despite having a very challenging car to drive.

This Canadian weekend allows Lewis Hamilton to regain confidence in his team and his car: « For a moment, at the end of the race, I managed to keep up with the others in front (Verstappen/Sainz, editor’s note). But they eventually pulled away from me in the end. But it gave me and the team great hopes. »

I think there are great things to come for this car. The potential is truly there if we find the right settings. That’s been the most difficult part this year, really trying to optimize the setup as best as possible. The adjustment window for this car is much narrower than any other car I have driven.

A rather positive race for the British driver, who was complaining a lot about his car during the early free practice sessions, even calling it undrivable.
