Mercedes hasn’t progressed as much as that for George Russell
Despite a very good result for Mercedes at the Canadian Grand Prix, George Russell claims that the W13 hasn't made much progress since the Spanish Grand Prix.

George Russell continues his fantastic streak of consecutive top 5 finishes and often outpaces his teammate Lewis Hamilton. The latter has never finished below 5th place this season. This allows Mercedes to remain competitive in every race. However, every car must improve, and according to him, this is not yet the case for the W13.
He explains after the Canadian Grand Prix that there is more to come for his car: the deficit in pace compared to the leading cars was still very significant in qualifying. So even if on paper it seemed like there was progress, we are still far from our goal. In the end, we haven’t progressed as much as we thought, but we continue to work hard to narrow the gap as much as possible.
George Russell also explains that despite the few improvements, significant problems still remain: « With this car, you can solve one problem but then fall into another trap. The porpoising has been resolved, but when we try to lower the car, it scrapes the ground extremely. We can’t find the right window of adjustments.
Despite this, George Russell is 4th in the world championship, not far behind Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. With only 15 points behind the Monegasque. Nothing is decided for Mercedes, who can still come back in the race.
