Sainz feels more confident with the Ferrari
Struggling at the beginning of the season with several mistakes, Carlos Sainz said he felt more comfortable behind the wheel of the F1-75 after the Canadian Grand Prix.

Carlos Sainz was one of the pleasant surprises of last season. For his arrival within the Scuderia, the Spaniard stood up to Charles Leclerc and even finished ahead of the Monegasque in the drivers’ standings.
But in this early stage of the 2022 season, with Ferrari now having a car that allows them to fight for victories on an equal footing, Sainz has seemed to struggle much more. His pace is far less impressive and below that of Leclerc, but especially marked by numerous mistakes.
Last weekend in Montreal, Carlos Sainz was very close to his first victory in the premier category. With Charles Leclerc being penalized and therefore the only Ferrari with a chance to displace Max Verstappen, the 27-year-old Spaniard finally showed a very satisfying pace in the race.
« I really want to focus and see if I can find a good balance of performance and comfort in the car. I think I did it this weekend, since the first free practice session I was fast, just like in qualifying and in the race », declares Sainz after the Canada Grand Prix. « During the race, I was pushing to the limit and I wasn’t afraid of losing the car, like I had in Barcelona for example. »
Sainz himself acknowledges the progress but believes that more track time is needed to truly be 100% in sync with his Ferrari. « Good progress has been made. We have made some changes to the car to try and suit my preferences, and it seems to be working. But at the same time, I think I need to drive on more circuits, I need different types of corners to fully understand everything. »
