Latifi, home race but anonymous
Last weekend in Montreal, Nicholas Latifi discovered the joys of racing at home. A special moment that the Canadian obviously enjoyed, but not on the track.

Contrary to his compatriot Lance Stroll, Nicholas Latifi experienced his first home Grand Prix in Montreal this weekend. Struggling greatly since the beginning of the season, the atmosphere around the Gilles Villeneuve circuit could have boosted the Williams driver.
But as usual, Latifi remained completely anonymous throughout the weekend. He was 19th on the grid, ahead of Tsunoda who was taking engine penalties. Sunday wasn’t much better and the Canadian finishes 16th, second to last on the track.
For the driver who was racing in his hometown last Sunday, the only source of happiness was found in the stands. The overall experience of the weekend was quite special. It’s amazing to finally have this first home race and the support I felt – family, friends, all the fans in the stands – was incredible.
Always far from the mark
Because, on the track, it was much more complicated for Latifi. As for the track, he didn’t have anything really enjoyable during the race. We were just lacking pace. We need to try to understand why, because at the moment there are no answers.
« Very little fuel, a lot of fuel, the pace just wasn’t there, so we have two weeks to try and analyze because it’s not just this race, it’s been like this since the previous races. There’s something wrong. We’ll see what we can find, » concludes Latifi.
If his teammate Alex Albon mentioned the various balance issues of the car, Nicholas Latifi is still far behind the Thai driver.
