Grosjean understands Mick Schumacher’s situation
For five years, Romain Grosjean was a driver at Haas, making him probably the best-placed person to understand Mick Schumacher's situation within the American team. And the Frenchman believes that the decline in performance is not without reason in the recent races.

Mick Schumacher is having a rather challenging 2022 season. He hasn’t scored any points in nine Grand Prix races, despite displaying some moments of brilliance with the Haas team. The young German finds himself in a difficult situation.
If his car hadn’t let him down during the Canada Grand Prix, Schumacher was in a good position to open his account. Enough to keep hope before Silverstone this weekend, even if the car is sorely lacking in upgrades. A new package should be introduced during the Hungary Grand Prix, and the team has already announced that these will be the last improvements of the season.
Faced with this complex situation for the Red Baron’s son, Romain Grosjean, a driver for five seasons within the American team, seems well positioned to understand what is happening.
« He [Schumacher] has had some difficult races recently. I think the car isn’t helping him because it has fallen back a bit in the hierarchy. He surely wants to do what Kevin [Magnussen] did at the beginning of the season with 5th places and some points, but now the car can’t do it anymore because it hasn’t received any upgrades. It’s truly typical for Haas, you start off well and then you fall back, I know it too well », the Frenchman states.
This lack of performance pushes Schumacher to make a mistake against Grosjean. « If you try to be in fifth place, like Mick is trying now and to absolutely score points, you start making mistakes and that’s what’s happening. So take your time and sometimes going slower is faster. »
Mick Schumacher is one of only two drivers who have not scored a single point this season.
