After a difficult weekend in Montreal, McLaren recorded a race with no points on their scoreboard, with Daniel Ricciardo finishing eleventh and Lando Norris fifteenth. The British team arrives at Silverstone with only 8 points ahead of Alpine and 14 points ahead of Alfa Romeo, and hopes to score as many points as possible this weekend to make up for their poor result.

Zak Brown spoke at the dawn of this race weekend: “We believe that this track is better suited to our car. The last three races have been tough, but our cars can perform well here. However, when it comes to your home race, you tend to step up the level a little bit. So we will give it our all in the hopes of getting both cars into the points. We need to provide our drivers with a car that is capable of being at the forefront as consistently as possible.”

Last year, McLaren finished the race just shy of the podium, with Lando Norris in 4th position and his teammate Ricciardo right behind him. The Briton spoke about it, highlighting the unpredictability of this season.

« Things can change quickly. Montreal was, to be honest, a hell of a weekend for us at McLaren. But there is no reason to believe that we cannot change things and be much more competitive at our home race in Silverstone. After all, we went from 15th place in the first race of this season in Bahrain, where we were miles off the pace, to fifth place in Australia two races later, and then to a podium in Imola.

In this same interview, Lando Norris also stated that there are some innovations hidden in McLaren’s pipeline, where many other teams have already announced bringing a lot of improvements to their respective cars.
