The 2021 edition of the British Grand Prix was marked by Max Verstappen’s huge accident in the Copse corner, following a high-speed collision with Lewis Hamilton. Despite a 10-second penalty imposed on Hamilton, the seven-time World Champion was still able to win the Grand Prix, right under the nose of Charles Leclerc.

The controversies surrounding the accident have been numerous, and Lewis Hamilton has been the target of many insults and remarks on social media, especially regarding his triumphant attitude after the race while his rival was in the hospital. This clash marked the beginning of tensions between Hamilton and Verstappen.

One year later, Formula 1 returns to the birthplace of the sport. Max Verstappen is once again leading the championship with a lead of over 40 points on his nearest rival, no longer Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen spoke ahead of the Grand Prix and stated that he no longer holds a grudge against Lewis Hamilton.

Of course, the accident wasn’t nice, but I love this track. I really enjoy going there. The atmosphere here is great, and the cars go extremely fast. So I have no hard feelings for what happened. And I also think I can easily put all of this aside.

And the reigning world champion added: “Obviously, it’s not pleasant when it happens, but in the end, you deal with it. It wasn’t a nice shock for me, but we go back again and we will try to go for the win.”
