Sainz: “I couldn’t have dreamt of anything better”
Carlos Sainz wins his first Formula 1 victory on the occasion of his 150th Grand Prix.

Carlos Sainz wins the British Grand Prix after a completely crazy race. A late safety car allowed the Spaniard to take back the lead of the race, while his competitors fought for the podium.
Interviewed by the 2009 world champion, Jenson Button, he reflects on his Grand Prix. “I don’t know what to say, incredible, after 150 Grand Prix races, winning here at Silverstone with Ferrari, I couldn’t have dreamed of anything better. It’s a weekend I will never forget and thank you to everyone for the support. It wasn’t easy because I struggled at the beginning of the race with the balance, especially in the fast corners, but despite that, I stayed focused and committed. Luckily, the safety car gave me the opportunity to get back in the fight. I knew I had to stay calm because it was the only chance I had to win.”
Sainz also wanted to congratulate Lewis Hamilton on his podium. Thanks to this victory and Russell’s retirement, Sainz moves ahead of him in the championship. He is in 4th place in the championship with 127 points, which is 16 more than George Russell and 11 less than his teammate.
