A worrying first testing session for McLaren
McLaren didn't start their Austrian weekend well, with a first hour of testing in agony.

The first McLaren testing session was cut short due to a multitude of issues on both cars, with Lando Norris forced to spend the remainder of his session in the garage with 22 minutes remaining following a problem with his car. On his side, Daniel Ricciardo experienced failures with his DRS, preventing him from carrying out his testing session successfully.
Andreas Seidl explained after this difficult first session: « It was not a good session for us. For Lando, we experienced a loss of power. And for Daniel, he had a problem with the DRS and we are looking into it. There isn’t much time to fix our issues, but we will do everything to be ready for qualifying.
With the qualifications in very little time, the weekend is poorly planned for them, as they failed to set a time with the soft tires during practice: « We didn’t have much running, we couldn’t push to our limits and we couldn’t follow our program. It’s far from ideal, especially on a weekend like this, but it’s the challenge we have to face. »
