Gasly desperately calls on AlphaTauri to improve his car
Pierre Gasly testifies to having experienced a nightmarish weekend in Spielberg. The Normand implores AlphaTauri to make improvements to the car.

Pierre Gasly’s Austrian weekend was far from a walk in the park. Apart from slightly positive qualifications (ignoring the fact that Perez’s penalty delayed Gasly from reaching Q3), the race for the Norman driver was very challenging.
From the sprint race, Gasly found himself in difficulty, involved in a collision with Lewis Hamilton. He “qualified” 15th for the Grand Prix. During the race, he did not recover any positions and conceded a lap to the winner, Charles Leclerc.
After another anonymous race, Gasly expressed his thoughts on his team’s situation after the Grand Prix: The entire weekend was a total disaster, except for the qualifying sessions. We were nowhere in terms of pace. I tried everything from inside the car, but in moments like these, there’s really nothing you can do. We desperately need improvements on the car if we want to be able to score points.
Expected developments in Le Castellet
It’s not really surprising to see others make progress when we have no new parts. Compared to the beginning of the year, we could fight with the guys up front, but now we finish 20 to 30 seconds behind the others. We’re losing 4 to 5 tenths per lap to them, and that’s the gap we need to close.
Same observation for the second car of the Italian team, with Tsunoda finishing 16th, right behind Gasly. « We don’t have any pace. Look at Yuki’s race, look at mine, and even the strategy – losing a position by pitting is not possible – but in the end, we are sorely lacking speed. »
You can do whatever you want, try any strategy. With the current speed we have, we can’t continue like this, we have to start over. We have new parts that are on their way and should arrive for the Grand Prix of France, hoping to have more pace there.
