The future of Alonso at Alpine is not yet confirmed
Alonso's position at Alpine is being coveted, and the two-time world champion is not yet certain about his future in F1.

Despite the impressive performances of Formula 1 veteran Fernando Alonso, he still doesn’t know if he will be driving for Alpine in 2023, or even in Formula 1. At over 40 years old, the two-time World Champion has achieved very solid qualifications and has repeatedly been involved in the hunt for pole position. However, reliability issues have tarnished the results of the Spanish driver this season, and Alonso finds himself much lower in the standings than his performances show.
A few weeks ago, the extension of his contract was not his priority. But today, the situation seems to have changed: Nobody is ever guaranteed to stay in Formula 1. We must agree on something, I think, during the summer break. In the coming weeks or whenever, I will need to sit down with the team to see what their expectations are.
(D) Also, what is the next step of the project? I feel good, I feel at home with Alpine, but I’m not sure about anything at the moment.
Alpine aims to soon achieve Mercedes’ performance in upcoming races, with Esteban Ocon in 8th place and Fernando Alonso in 10th place. Alpine is currently tied in 5th place with McLaren in the championship.
