Robert Kubica will replace Valtteri Bottas during FP1 of the French Grand Prix
Alfa Romeo has announced that their reserve driver Robert Kubica will replace Valtteri Bottas during the first free practice session of the French Grand Prix.

Robert Kubica, former Formula 1 driver and reserve driver for Alfa Romeo, will take the wheel during the first free practice session of the French Grand Prix.
The Polish driver has been a reserve driver for Alfa Romeo since 2020 and has participated in Grand Prix races as a substitute for Kimi Räikkönen. He had also previously taken part in a free practice session during the Spanish Grand Prix as a replacement for Guanyu Zhou.
So it’s now Valtteri Bottas’ turn to give up his seat to another driver as part of the program imposed by the FIA. Alfa Romeo intended to have Théo Pourchaire (a young driver) drive, but Formula 2 is ultimately present in France as a replacement for Russia. Kubica won’t be the only non-regular driver present during the practice sessions, as Nyck de Vries will drive Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes for 60 minutes.
