The test at Mercedes for Grosjean is still pending
Romain Grosjean has confirmed that the planned test with Mercedes is still on the agenda, and takes responsibility for the delay.

Romain Grosjean’s Formula 1 career came to an end following his horrific accident at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. As a result, he was unable to compete in the remaining two Grand Prix races and has not been able to return to Formula 1 since.
Although his career in Indycar is successful, Romain Grosjean still has a desire to get back behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car. After his accident, Toto Wolff, director of Mercedes AMG, promised the former Haas driver a private testing session in a World Championship-winning single-seater.
This essay was intended for the last French Grand Prix, but the global pandemic prevented these tests from being carried out properly. Since then, his career in IndyCar and other personal circumstances have only delayed the date of this session. During a Q&A video on YouTube, a question was asked to Romain Grosjean to find out if he had taken his test or not yet. « Not yet, and it’s 100% my fault. I haven’t been able to give Mercedes any dates when I would be in Europe. If you follow me on social media, you know that I have moved to Miami. »
« I moved in December 2021, I was really busy. I was supposed to drive the Mercedes at the French Grand Prix and have a test day at the Paul Ricard circuit, but due to Covid, the GP was rescheduled to a weekend when I already had a race. Later, we wanted to do this test, but there were quarantine issues between France and the United Kingdom, so it was very complicated for Mercedes.

A test was scheduled for Silverstone.
The Frenchman then explained that a backup date had been planned for the Silverstone Grand Prix, but logistical issues also prevented it. We had a date in September at Silverstone, but it was impossible to rent the track. I have been in contact with Mercedes, I met Toto in Miami, and he confirmed to me that yes, the test will take place and I have no doubt about it. Mercedes has been very good at contacting me, but every time, it was my fault. I couldn’t find the time to come back to Europe for the test.
Mercedes has also confirmed that Romain Grosjean will drive either the W10 or the W11, two of the fastest Mercedes ever built.
