Leclerc applauds Sainz’s work during the qualifying session of the French Grand Prix
Author of the pole position in the French Grand Prix at the Circuit du Castellet, Charles Leclerc did not fail to acknowledge his teammate Carlos Sainz, who provided him with the slipstream in Q3.

The team strategy worked perfectly during the qualifying session for the French Grand Prix at Ferrari. Knowing that he was condemned to start from the back of the grid after changes to his power unit, Carlos Sainz twice provided a tow to Charles Leclerc in Q3. This maneuver allowed the Monegasque driver to secure his sixteenth pole position of his career.
In front of the press after the qualifying session, the current second in the championship did not fail to praise his teammate’s work. « It was a great lap. I fought throughout the weekend to make the perfect lap. But I have to say that I benefited from Carlos’ help. It was an incredible team effort. »
And to add: « Without Carlos, it would have been tighter. So a big thank you to Carlos and I hope he can join me in the fight for victory tomorrow. »
Reflecting on his team’s performance, the Monegasque driver is satisfied with how the weekend has gone so far: “After Q1, I was really surprised by the speed we had. In Q2, we were also very strong. So this qualifying session has been a very pleasant surprise for us.”
Leclerc will have to be wary of the two Red Bulls behind him for the race. Alone against Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez, the Ferrari driver knows very well that his race will likely not be a walk in the park.
