It was a smiling George Russell who stepped up to the microphone with David Coulthard after the French Grand Prix. Third after a great battle towards the end of the race with Sergio Perez’s Red Bull, the British driver didn’t hide his joy.

“It was a long and tough race. We had good speed, but we faced issues at the restart after the safety car, but I gave it my all against Checo [Perez]. I really wanted that third place at the checkered flag,” explains the young British driver.

I suffered when Sainz overtook me, I lost an opportunity. Regarding the contact with Perez, the rule is clear, I was on the inside and he should have given me more space. But it’s a double podium for Mercedes and it’s awesome, savors Russell.

The Mercedes driver achieved his fourth podium of the season and is ranked fifth, just one point behind Carlos Sainz, who is fourth.
