Verstappen and Hamilton could break a record together this season
By finishing 1st and 2nd for the second time in a row, the duo is only one race away from a new record. This is the record for the most 1st and 2nd place finishes between two drivers.

After the Hungarian Grand Prix, which saw Verstappen triumph over Hamilton, the two drivers came closer to a new record. The record for the most first and second place finishes between two drivers.
This record was then held by Hamilton and Rosberg, who finished in 1st and 2nd place in 31 Grand Prix races in just 3 years, between 2014 and 2016. Although they were teammates at Mercedes, the two drivers had a fierce rivalry within their team. A rivalry that allowed them to dominate the sport during this period.
The first time we saw these two drivers finish in first and second place was during the 2014 Malaysian Grand Prix, in which Hamilton won.
During their rivalry, we saw Hamilton win 20 times when Rosberg was in 2nd place. The German driver himself prevailed 11 times ahead of Hamilton.
Lewis Hamilton could therefore beat his own record as early as the next race at the Belgian Grand Prix. He would achieve a 32nd Grand Prix where both drivers, himself and Verstappen, finish either 1st or 2nd.
The first time we saw both drivers finish in the first two positions was during the 2016 Austrian Grand Prix. In this race, we once again saw Hamilton come out on top. The British driver therefore won the battle against Rosberg in their first joint podium, but also against Verstappen.
Since that race, Lewis Hamilton has won 20 other races, finishing ahead of Verstappen. The Red Bull driver, on the other hand, has stood on the top step of the podium 11 times when Hamilton finished second.
This rivalry that has spanned several years but only gained importance recently, with its climax being the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021, still has a few surprises in store for us.
