Lawson at the wheel of the AlphaTauri during FP1 of the Belgian Grand Prix
Liam Lawson will make his official debut in Formula 1 this weekend at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The New Zealander will be behind the wheel of the AlphaTauri during the first free practice session.

Liam Lawson will compete in his first free practice session in Formula 1 this Friday, driving the AT03. Currently eighth in the Formula 2 standings, in which he is in his second season, he will experience his first official run in the top category, having already driven in F1 during the young driver tests in Abu Dhabi last season.
« I am very excited to announce that I will be doing my first free practice session this weekend at Spa. I couldn’t imagine a better place to do it, it’s a historic circuit where I’ve always loved driving, so it will be amazing to do it with an F1 car.
» declares the 20-year-old New Zealand driver.
Lawson will take Gasly’s seat for this session.
