Imbroglio Piastri: Wolff supports Alpine, Horner expresses surprise
The truce has been particularly marked by the Piastri affair. The Australian driver has two valid contracts, but the decision regarding his future has not yet been made.

As the championship resumed this weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix, the “Piastri affair” which dominated the break is still not over. However, there will soon be a decision that could affect several transfers.
Two Formula 1 team principals, Toto Wolff and Christian Horner, recently reacted to Piastri’s decision. Both support Alpine and its team principal regarding Piastri’s lack of respect towards the team that nurtured him.
« It is important that junior team programs are treated with respect. I believe that some children should be careful about what they post on social media about multinational organizations, said the director of Mercedes.
I believe in karma and I believe in honesty. But it’s not really up to me to judge since I’m not aware of the entire legal situation.
The Red Bull director, on the other hand, doesn’t really understand the battle that Alpine and McLaren are fighting over the young driver and hopes that it will be resolved quickly.
« Contractually, this should never happen,” he wonders.
« I don’t understand what’s happening on the contractual level, but if Piastri is in a position where he doesn’t think he has to drive for Alpine next year, then something is not right.

Regardless of the court’s decision, it is highly likely to see Piastri at McLaren. But if Alpine wins the case, McLaren and Piastri will have to financially compensate Alpine.
The director of Alpine, on the other hand, is very confident about the outcome of the case.
« I have seen both sides of the arguments and we are confident that Oscar signed with us in November. There are certain things that must be included in the contract and I am convinced that they are included.
